Loellen (Loie) Conrad, née Thiel, February 17, 1955 - March 7, 2022, a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to all. Loie was so much to so many. Born in Oak Park, IL, Loie grew up there until moving to Grandville, MI and graduating from Grandville High School. Her work varied over the years, from coaching and teaching swimming, to serving as an administrator for Conrad Patterson before retiring. Loie married her adoring husband, Rick, March 11, 1978. The two loved nothing more than being a part of their children’s and grandchildren’s lives in every way, and this extended to their many siblings, nieces, and nephews.
Loie’s faith was strong, and she exuded God’s love and grace in everything she did. She made everyone and everything feel special. She was an avid shopper, creative crafter, decorator, gardener, beach lover, and the biggest cheerleader to not only family, but every member of every team. And above all, she LOVED Christmas. Whether it was decorating her home from ceiling to floor or giving gifts, she was all in for celebrating the holidays. Loie was an active member of Newhall Community Church, serving in many ways, including teaching Sunday school and decorating the church for special occasions and holidays.
While there is no way to fill the void left behind, her family and friends will no doubt carry her amazing spirit with them forever. Her smile will never fade away. Her compassion will lift them up. Her faith will make them strong. Her legacy will be nurtured and cherished.
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord, your God, will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9 (NIV)
