After graduating from Grandville H.S., Martin obtained his Masters degree from the University of Michigan in Electrical Engineering - highlights included playing trombone in the Marching Band at the Rose Bowl and having his picture in Life Magazine. After college he worked for Smiths Industries (GE) until his retirement. Martin enjoyed volunteering and helping people - he tutored math at Iroquois Middle School and spent many of his Friday mornings at SECOM. Martin was a lifetime member of Grandville United Methodist Church and ever-faithful tenor in the choir. An avid water skier until age 81, an unbeaten math puzzle solver, and an adventurous world traveler - enjoying ice cream everywhere he went. He loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren.
