Mary Alice Newhof (Kloet)

NEWHOF (KLOET) Mary Alice Newhof, age 85, went to be with her Lord, Tuesday, December 2, 2014. She was preceded in death earlier this year by her husband, Thomas Leigh Newhof. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Lois VanAntwerpen.

Mary will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Tom and Connie, Mike and Bonnie, Dave and Kathy, Mark and Brenda, Jim and Barb; and her daughter, Mary DeHaan; 17 grandchildren and their spouses; 15 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Leonard Kloet, Jr.; her sisters-in-law, Ellen VerWys, Jacqueline Newhof, JoAnne Newhof; and many nieces and nephews.

Mary loved to host and cook for family gatherings, especially at the cottage. For 15 years she corresponded through Crossroads Ministry with prisoners. She enjoyed Bible Studies and helping those in need. Family camping trips turned into traveling with Tom in retirement.

A time for relatives and friends to visit with Mary's family will be held from 2 to 5 PM Sunday, at Cook Funeral Home in Grandville, 4235 Prairie St. SW (west building). Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, December 8, at Cook Memorial Chapel (east building). Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. In honor of Mary, contributions may be made to World Vision or Mission India.
