Jesse has always said Grandma had some of the best recipes! I appreciate the first time I met Minnie, she took me upstairs to show me all the neat old pics and all of Beth's arts and crafts. And for Halloween, I was given Minnie's old Minnie Mouse costume and wore it while driving school bus, I was shocked it even fit me...all the way down to the shoes! Jesse and I are also very grateful that we had the honor of having Grandma at our wedding in June of 2008.

You Know. . .
 What I'll always remember about Grandma Minnie was how straightforward and strong willed she was while also maintaining her dainty feminity “Minnie Mouse” so rightly her alias as I cannot imagine another such appropriate depiction of her personality. 
 She was the first to make mention if there was a positive change to a person, and the first to critique if she thought changes were in order. She had a very conservative perspective in all aspects of life. She was a very proper and well-spoken lady. The kind the world is greatly lacking in today. . .and one less example leave us to join God in his kingdom as she leaves us this week. 
 She embodied the traditional aspects of a woman and mother as a product of the late 40’s and early 50’s in all that she was. She was meticulous in the maintenance of her home, in the great care and love she put into her recipes when she cooked & baked for the family. In her appearance, and into her presentation of herself to the world. A strong woman and mother surviving the death of her husband and still maintaining herself as lady. One to learn from in her actions and certainly inspire to be like in many ways by the many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren she left her mark upon in her time here on earth. I am so blessed to have the chance to carry on her honor in one aspect, as for a gift from my stepmother, and Minnie’s daughter, Beth, I was given a cookbook with many of Minnie’s personal recipes that were staples the family so looked forward to at holidays from Minnie. I have always kept her voice inside my heart as I strive to be a lady in a world lacking in such women. I may not always be the epitome of such a lady. . . but, I will try Minnie. I promise.
 She loved angels. . .one of her greatest loves was her “angel collection” that she maintained with just such precision and care as she showed in all she did. All my heart in this moment of prayer for Minnie wishing her peace and rest in heaven as she now takes on her roll as an angel, and become what she had once such admired here on earth. 
 Your life well lived, your time well spent. 
 We’ll see you soon, off to heaven you went.

I will miss her letters and talking on the phone. She even helped me bake my first loaves of bread over the phone. There were tough times, but she raised five children that all did well, I guess that means she gave us character. It is good to know she is with all those that left before her and those of us living will be her reminders here.
