Mistie Anne Steed

Mistie Anne Steed, age 41, went to be with her Lord Wednesday, February 28, 2024. Mistie will be remembered by her husband, Robert Steed; children Jacob, Leah, and Madison; parents Laurel and David Watkins, Ronald and Cheryl Loughner; siblings Eric Watkins, Joshua and Kaleena Loughner, Steven Loughner, Marylou Watkins, Melissa and Chris Dawes, Amber and Nic Burning, Sarah and Cam Caterino, Emilea and Matt Ross; grandparents David and Barbara Payne, Edward and Renata Loughner; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; 19 nieces (Myla and Karma preceded her in death) and nephews; and many friends.

Born and raised in the Grand Rapids area, Mistie was the oldest of nine children. Mistie took a leap of faith moving to Colorado with her husband in 2003 to pursue adventure and experience life outside of West Michigan. In the ten years in Colorado, Mistie started a career as an optician and became a mother three times over. Mistie loved to spend time with her family, especially her children, nieces, and nephews - taking them shopping, to the movies, and theme parks, and giving great hugs. When at home, Mistie loved snuggling with the three family dogs and watching a movie. She was happiest when she could visit a beach, whether in Florida or on Lake Michigan, lay out in the sun during the day, and dance the night away at a concert. Mistie is gone too soon and deeply missed.

Visitation with friends and relatives will take place from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Cook Funeral Home (West Building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418. A celebration of Mistie’s life will commence 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior, Friday, March 8, 2024 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building). Officiating will be Rev. Sherri Swanson. In lieu of interment, there will be a luncheon following the service at Allendale Meadows Clubhouse, 11400 Boyne Blvd., Allendale. Memorial contributions in memory of Mistie can be made out to Robert Steed, to assist with funeral expenses (GoFundMe link is below).
