Nelson Riemersma

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 54 years, Shirley Boelema; his children, Diane VerHage, David and Mena Riemersma, Jon Riemersma, Jan and Dan Rusticus, Scott and Jill Riemersma; his son-in-law Richard VerHage; his mother-in-law Marie Boelema; his ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren; his sisters, Margaret Heemstra, Betty Gaastra, Arlene Andrews, Julia and Ken Dice, and Lee Stukkie; his brothers, Rev. John and Fannie Riemersma, Nicholas Riemersma, and Peter and Beverly Riemersma; his sister-in-law Colleen Langfeldt; his brother-in-law Ken and Joan Boelema; and several nieces and nephews.

Nelson was preceded in death by his son Danny; his grandson Joel; his father and mother; and his father-in-law.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2003 from the Cook Memorial Chapel east building 4235 Prairie St. SW in Grandville, with Pastor John Padgett and Pastor Terry Scholten officiating.

The family will meet with relatives and friends on Tuesday, October 7 2003 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, October 8, 2003 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home west building in Grandville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland or the American Cancer Society.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. James Mitton, Dr. Michael Zakem, Patty Jerek and the staff at the Cancer Hemotology Center of West Michigan for the care they provided for Nelson.
