My thoughts and prayers are with you as you mourn the loss of Nick. Nick was a wonderful young man. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to get to know him this year. Nick was a bright boy who was very talented. Nick had a good attitude and was a great contributor to the classroom. He often had information to add to our conversations about what we were reading or working on that day. One day last month he had us in stitches with a skit that he had written, color coded the parts, brought in props for and typed up. It was hilarious. I asked him if he would remember his language arts teacher when he was writing screen plays in Hollywood. He was obviously passionate about drama and acting. On Halloween he reported that he had spent about 3 hours on his make-up. That is quite a commitment for someone who has to be at school at 7:30 a.m. or so. My heart goes out to the many people who, like me, will miss Nick's creativity, off beat sense of humor, and kind hearted spirit. Sincerely, Sandy Bajema / Grandville Middle School

I dont remember what year or years I was in your class but I know I was. I didn't really remember you after 5th grade when you left, but I know who you are now. Today I got a phone call from my cousin Alisha Kikkert saying that you passed away. I had to think for a few seconds and then I said O yea I remember who he is now. I burst into tears remembering you because you were pretty cool. Now I'm thinking of you and wish I could see you again. Sorry to hear this happens, when they told us at school everyone was all quiet, even people that didnt know nick cried for him. I stinks to have this happen, Nick went to school with me up till 5th grade and he was very smart and he was funny. I will Pray for you guys and hope that everything will get better.

To the family of Nick, I was in Nicks class in 6th grade and on his team in 7th saddely in the 6th grade year book his name was right under mine and said Rachel Vanoverloophe was a great kid and I never heard him say anything mean to anybody. He had a great sence of humor and is missed greatly at school. I wasnt one of his closer friends but I was lucky enough to know him and talk to him and hear some of his crazy stories about what him and ryan did. Nick was my neighborhood son. He and Ryan and Kody have worked their way into my heart, my family and my home. I will forever miss Nick's shoes at the entry of my home. Nick we had some great times didn't we? I'll never forget those long hours at night on the tramp that we spent talking, the endless games of ball tag, and all of the insult haikus we would shoot at each other. I hated it when you had to count on your fingers to get the correct amount of syllables!And of course, I'm never gonna forget all of those times you and Ryan and Kody would gang up against me and we would all wrestle and that one time I can remember you grabbed my leg and slammed you against the wall. I met Nick through the Auchter's. My daughter, Molly, is Ellie's best friend and is always over their house playing. Molly is an only child and when she is at the Auchters has all of them for siblings and Nick too. He picked on her just like a suster and she gave it right back to him. He was a great kid and will be missed terribly by us. He was always funny and so respectful to me. He was a smiling face that I will always hold in my heart. I never got the chance to tell you that "overloop" is Dutch for "trampoline." I was going to be as serious as possible and make up examples to try to convince you this was true. I know you were too smart to actually believe me, but I thought you'd appreciate the effort.....

I forgot to add my memories. i remember me u and wesley would always be hanging out and then like all of us and ryan and kody would be jumping on the tramp and we would put the sprinkler under it and we would always be trying to get the bees away! ha it was fun. i also remember us when we would go swimming. and i remember hanging out in ur house and all we would do was laugh and just have a wonderful time. im gonna miss those times

I didn't really know Nick that well altough it felt as if i did. Nick was in 4 of my classes, he alawys seemed so happy and had a good sence of humor. I had allot of good memories of Nick, one time he told our class he liked horror movies because they gave him a sence of rush when you watched them. Wow! this is my 3rd time writing in here but its so amazing how i look at all these comments and it just amazes me how many people loved you nick! I wish you could have realized it! I mean to this day everyone is still truely missing you and forever will! You ahd such an impact on so many people! My friend Mia told me that you wrote down on paper that you loved scary movies because of the feeling they gave you and how you wnated to pass 8th grade and everything! and too this day it still takes me by shock that you did what you did to get out of the mess you were in. Even though i didn't know that well I just look at the times i did know you and listen to what all ym friends have to say about you that did know you as well and wow it just puts me in shock.. They all tell em what a great kid you were and how funny and smart and just how amazing you were and how they thought you would never do something like this.. It breaks my heart! It is spring and as we see the blooms and hear the birds and shoot the basketball in the yard, we miss Nick. As we glance at the trampoline shell awaiting its jumping mat and jumpers, we cringe at the thought of putting it together knowing that Nick will not be jumping on it this year. As we shoot baskets and hit the whiffle ball, we will not have even teams because Nick is absent.
 The hole that Nick has left in our home and in our lives remains empty. The months that have passed have not removed the pain and the hurt we feel from the loss of our friend. We want to hear Nick's laughter and see him do backflips in the yard. We yearn to see his face at our slider and see him play with our children.
 Spring brings new life and refreshes us. It makes sense that Spring reminds us that there is a time to be born and a time to die. It just wasn't Nick's time to die and that is where the sense stops.
 So 4 months later it still hurts. We still miss Nick. We always will.
