
Oeke (Eunice) Jonkman, age 99, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. Eunice was preceded in death by her husband, Jakob Jonkman; parents Martin and Hattie Halma; brothers George and Henry; and sister, Betty. She will be remembered by her children Melvin (Kathy) Jonkman, Kenneth (Joyce) Jonkman, and Joy (Terry) Lubben; sister, Ann Horstman; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Eunice was a dedicated wife and mother. She was also a faithful servant of her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was known as a diligent prayer warrior, praying daily for each member of her family and for anyone who asked her for prayer. She gave of her time to attend and lead Bible Study Fellowship. She spent time seeking the lost through evangelism programs offered through the church and mentored many individuals whom she met through these programs. Even when she could no longer volunteer through church programs, she would ask those who came to her room if they knew and loved the Lord. She had a heart for the lost and hurting.
A memorial celebration of Eunice’s life will commence 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Cook Memorial Chapel, 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418. In honor of Eunice and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Gateway Mission, 661 East 24th St., Holland, MI 49423 or Crossroads Prison Ministry, PO Box 900, Grand Rapids, MI 40509.
