As A Best Friend Of Jackson Paul Sheik I remember him and mourn his loss everyday

I played softball with Paul. I always looked forward to playing with him because he had that rarest of combinations—raw talent, competitive intensity, and a refreshingly positive attitude regardless of the situation. While he expected a lot from his own performance, he was the first to encourage you after your mistakes. He, of course, would be far too humble to accept any such praise, but I’m pretty sure anyone who had the pleasure of playing with him would tell you the same. From his example on the field, I am sure he touched many lives in far deeper and more significant ways than sports. To Paul’s family, please know that my family (and many others) are praying for you.

Paul,

I know time and distance made us grow apart but we were like brothers as kids. When I heard of your passing I couldn't believe it. I'm sorry I couldn't be there for you. You, me and Shane had some great times together that I will never forget! You were a great person and I am so glad we got to grow up together. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

My most recent memory of my brother was from Saturday. We were at a kids gym for family members birthday party. First Paul climbed the rope. Then he was jumping on the trampoline with Louie. The worker told him he couldn’t be on the trampoline. He got off and came to me as we made fun of him for getting into trouble and said, “I really wanted to point to a different trampoline (they have several) and ask what about that trampoline. Can I jump on that one? Or what about the one way over there? Can I jump on that one?” Well as the party was coming to a close he told me really wanted to jump into the foam pit. I told him he’d get into trouble, “he’s like well we are leaving anyways.” Then as all the workers started to make their way towards the front of the building. He ran jumped on a trampoline and over a mat into the foam pit. He climbed out with that huge smile and we all laughed. He was such a big kid at heart and was such a wonderful dad. We are all going to miss you so much Paul and love you.

Paul. We’ve shared many memories over the years. The memory that always sticks out is one of the first times Justin introduced me to you (over a decade ago). We went over to your house to hang out. I decided I would sit in the floor and chat. The dog thought I made a great humping post. Man, I don’t know how long it took before that wasn’t the first thing you mentioned to me when I would see you. You were a stand up guy and always will be to us. All of us. I wish time and life didn’t get in the way. We will miss you. Save us a seat up there.
