Raymond J. Buchanan

BUCHANAN Raymond J. Buchanan, age 80, went to be with his Lord, Saturday, January 3, 2015. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Buchanan (O'Rourke); his sisters, Helen Williams and Marie Huyge.

Ray will be lovingly remembered by his children, Bob and Sandy, Jim and Jodi, Mike and Nancy Buchanan, Liz and Steve Krombeen, Kathie and Denny Jordan, Margaret and Woody Martin; his 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; his brother, Frank Buchanan; and his brothers-in-law, Larry and Betsy O'Rourke and Terry and Sandi O'Rourke. The family would like to thank Holland Home and the staff at the Lendick and Van Andel Pavilion for their compassionate care.

Ray served in the US Army and worked for 30 years at General Motors. In service to his church, Ray served as an Usher at St. Pius X and in the choir at St. Francis. He was in the Knights of Columbus. Ray was a family man that loved camping trips and travel. He also loved photography and golfing. A time for relatives and friends to visit with Ray's family will be held from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday, with a Vigil service beginning at 8 PM at Cook Memorial Chapel 4235 Prairie St. SW (East building) and at the church one hour prior to the funeral mass. Funeral Mass will be held 11 AM Thursday, January 8, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3937 Wilson Ave. SW. Father Chris Rouech will be officiating. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
