René Follett DeVries

DEVRIES (FOLLETT) RenAC.e Follett DeVries, age 60, passed away, Thursday, April 17, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her father, Bob Follett and mother, Maxine Bechard; Brother, Ron Follett, as well as her nephew, Joshua Bell. Renee will be lovingly remembered by her children, Phil, Louis and Christine DeVries; her siblings, Roger Follett, Bob (Brenda) Follett, Rhonda (Rick) Gebhard and Rochelle Stubbs; her dear friend, Doug DeVries; mother-in-law, Betty DeVries, sister-in-law, Sally (John) Kitts and brother- in-law, Dave DeVries.

RenAC.e was a very talented lady. She produced magnificent gardens and offered sage advice to anyone with the same passion. Nothing pleased her more than a beautiful flower. RenAC.e also LOVED fabric! She created beautiful quilts and afghans for her loved ones and they will always be cherished. Antiquing was another of RenAC.e's favorite pastimes. A stroll through estate sales brought her much happiness and cherished time with her sisters. Some of her children's favorite memories of their Mother came from their annual trip to the cottage on Lake Michigan and her awesome meals. RenAC.e could light up a room talking about her kids and their accomplishments. She couldn't have been prouder.

She served on the Comstock Park School Board and volunteered as a radio programmer at WYCE - Community Media Center. She enjoyed her time on the air and loved to talk music with her friend and fellow programmer Duezer.

A time for relatives and friends to visit with RenAC.e's family will be held from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday at Cook Funeral Home in Grandville, 4235 Prairie St. SW (west building). Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, April 23 at Cook Memorial Chapel (east building), with visitation prior to the service beginning at 1 PM. In honor of RenAC.e, contributions may be made to Lack's Cancer Center at St. Mary's - Mercy Health or Gilda's Club.
