Richard Mark Borst

He is survived by his wife Deborah; his son, Josh; his daughter Kristen. He was lovingly proud and deeply humbled to be their husband and father. He is also survived by his parents, Herb and Marilyn Borst of Jenison; his brothers, Dan Sherry Borst of Grand Rapids, David Jan Borst of Jenison, Doug Annette Borst of Allendale; his mother-in-law, Faith Fosheim of Newaygo; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Greg and Mary Beth Westbrook of Grand Haven, and many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Rev. Borst graduated from Ottawa Hills High School in 1966. He attended GRJC and graduated from Hope College in 1971. He attended Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary from 1971 to 1973 and graduated from Western Theological Seminary from 1974. He served several congregations in the West Michigan area.

Dick wished to express special thanks to Paul Fox for his companionship, Pastor Jim Carlson for establishing the accountability group of which the Borst’s were a part of for seven years, every member of the accountability group for their support and counsel, Si Biener for his friendship, Harry Cohen and Bill Gillesse for their mentoring, the Ataxia Support Group for their encouragement, Hospice of Michigan for their compassionate care and the neurology team at U of M Medical Center for their skill in diagnosing and treating a rare brain disorder.

According to his wishes, Dick has been cremated.

A Memorial Service will be held at Fair Haven Ministries at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 26, 2003 with the Rev. Louis Lotz officiating.

A reception and fellowship time will follow.

Friends may also meet with family members from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, January 25 at the Cook Funeral Home, 1889 Baldwin St., in Jenison.

Memorial contributions may be made to “The Other Way Ministries” or Hospice of Michigan.
