

VANWINGEN Richard A. Van Wingen, age 78, went to be with his Lord, Wednesday, February 18, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Felice Van Wingen and his brother Peter (Jim) Van Wingen.
Richard will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Rose Van Wingen (Spieker), his children Laurie Van Wingen, Denise (Scott) Robertson, Barbara Terpstra, Richard (Donna) Van Wingen, Katheryn (Larry) Steffensen, Laynetta Clifton, Shari (Tom) Kellogg, Kenneth Lynch, Lorie (Terry) Brown, James (Mandy) Van Wingen, Anthony Van Wingen; his 29 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; his sister Susan (Robert) Zomberg and many nieces and nephews.
Richard loved hunting, fishing, and boating. He was an avid gardener. Richard attended Kendall College as a young man to develop his love for art and painting. Traveling, shopping, and sitting at the coffee shop were some of his other pastimes. He served in the US Marine Corps and after leaving the service he managed the Adobe Restaurant for many years. After leaving the Adobe he worked in the security field for Securitas at multiple locations. Most of all, Richard loved his family and they will cherish the time they got to spend with him.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Saturday, February 21, at St. Pius X Catholic Parish, 3937 Wilson Ave. SW in Grandville, Michigan. Father Chris Rouech will be presiding. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service beginning at 10 AM on Saturday. In honor of Richard, contributions may be made to St. Pius X Catholic Church - Master's Mission, in lieu of flowers. The family welcomes memories and message in their guestbook online.
