
”The Shuffleboard King” has gone on to find his next game.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Basil Colley and Max Colley.
He will be remembered by his loving wife of 41 years, Barbara; his children, Robert Shannon Mattice Jr., Herbert Mattice, Jill Robert McDonough, Larry Palmer, Dale Diane Palmer, and Joanne Scott LaBryn; his 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; his sisters, Shelby Lavern Warchock and Norma Larry Timm; his brother Junior Mattice; his sisters-in-law, Blanche Colley, Mary Colley, and Leona Robert Plocki; his brother-in-law Robert Floretta Hanson; and nieces and nephews.
After serving his country in the Korean War, Robert returned home and worked for Columbian Storage and Transfer as a highway driver for 43 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 179, the VFW 830 Post, and the 40 et 8 Voiture 553.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 18 at the Cook Memorial Chapel east building 4235 Prairie St SW in Grandville.
The family will meet with relatives and friends on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home west building.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 179 Building Fund or Make A Wish Foundation of West Michigan.
