My Condolences to the family.
I met Bob in Québec City and we became friends right away. I had written a book about les coureurs de bois and les voyageurs. Bob was very interested about that subject and he invited me and Lilianne to visit him in Hudsonville. We met his family. This was the beginning of a long friendship. He was also a true “Francophile” and of all the trips we made together we followed the path of French History in North America. He also came to visit us in Québec City with his grandson, Michael.
Salut Bob! You will be in my memory forever! Rest in Peace!

My dad loved to ride and took his bike(s) everywhere.  I think that's the Brooklyn Bridge!

Dad went to visit William (my son) four years ago. Still recovering from hip surgury and we walked for many, many miles, he was a trooper!  So tied he fell asleep as soon as we hit the airline seats.

I met Bob when he came to the New France Festival in Quebec City as a reenactor about 10 years ago, and I’ve often thought of him, fondly, since. He reminded me of my dad, as he was planning to take a really long route home around the Great Lakes, and the rest of us in the group were worried about him doing that alone. My own dad did stuff like that all the time! 

One year, after the festival was over, he treated me to lunch at the indigenous restaurant inside a local First Nations tourist village, just because he wanted to go, and I had never eaten there.  We each got one of the entrees they offered and split them, so we could try both elk strew and deer sausages. I probably never would have tried either if not for Bob, 

My condolences go out to his entire family. He was one of a kind! Thanks for the memories, Bob! 💕

Bob was such a delight. I'll always remember going with him to the Festival of New France in Québec City as historical reenactors. Bob had such fun. They put us up in a dorm at Laval and we had to take a van back in the evening. We'd start back through the crowd and tell each other to not get separated. A minute later, Bob would be gone. We'd start a search and find him chatting with someone or singing with a group of people. "Come on, Bob, we have to get to the van." "Oh, yeah, of course  - I'm right behind you." We'd start off again, and a minute later - "Where's Bob?" 

Even though I haven't seen him in years, I can't imagine the world without him! I will never forget his kindness and deep sense of fun. What a wonderful man he was. I'm so sorry for your loss.
