

Ronald Ray Hodges of Grandville passed peacefully on August 1, 2019 after a short battle with cancer. He was determined to be with his loving wife, Yvonne Diane (Pattison) Hodges, for their anniversary of 67 years. They were married in Muskegon on August 1, 1952.
He is now reunited in heaven with parents Howard Burr and Bessie Myrtle (Teall) Hodges; step-mother, Dorothy Hodges; sister, Helen Winsemius; son, Rodney Ray; and daughter, Cynthia Lynn, and is free from the bonds of pain.
Also mourning his departure are his brother, Jerry Hodges; sister, Sharon McMann; daughter, Jill Renee Middendorf; son, Eric Paul Hodges; daughter-in-law, Joanna Lynn Hodges; his grandchildren Alissa (Jordan Green) and Karah Middendorf, Derek, Trevor, and Kaitlyn Hodges, Heather Morrison and her husband Timothy, and great-grandchildren Liam and Harper Morrison.
Ron was born in Lake City, Michigan on July 22, 1931. He graduated from Muskegon High School in 1950 and joined the Air Force. He was a Staff Sergeant and was stationed at Langley Field. When he finished his military career, he joined the workforce as a designer; first at Brunswick in Muskegon, then Whirlpool in Kalamazoo, where he worked with NASA to design kitchen devices for the Mercury and Gemini programs. He then rounded out his career in the office furniture industry at both Steelcase and Herman Miller.
Ron enjoyed traveling (especially in his Ultra Van), drawing, reading, talking to people and sharing his knowledge on a wide variety of topics.
There will be a public visitation from 6 - 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at Cook Funeral Home (West building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI. A funeral service and celebration of his life will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 7 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East building), with visitation one hour prior to service. A private family graveside service will take place at Mona View Cemetery in Muskegon.
