

WILLETTE - Thomas Louis Willette, age 86, went to be with his Heavenly Father, Sunday, December 13, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Mildred Willette; his son, Daniel Thomas Willette; and his brother, Michael Willette.
Tom will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Carol Willette (Chapman); his children, Patrick M. Willette, Therese M. (Raymand) Mensah, Brian L. (AnnMarie) Willette; his daughter-in-law, Joyce Willette-Pounds; his grandchildren, Mellissa, Christina, Daniel, Hannah, Alexander, Ava, Shea and Quinn; his four great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; his siblings, Leo (Shirley) Willette, Nan Malloy; his sisters-in-law, Jan Willette, Nancy (Scott) Tietema; and his many nieces and nephews.
He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Tom worked almost 60 years as a barber at “The Place” in Burton Heights. He had such a loyal following of customers that he served multiple generations of different families. Michigan fans always knew they were in for some banter about his Fighting Irish. Tom was a dedicated follower of Catholic Central and Notre Dame athletics. Tom loved to watch football and play golf. He enjoyed traveling, but had a hard time leaving his clients. Tom was a good-looking, sharply dressed guy, and even did some modeling years ago.
A time for relatives and friends to visit with Tom’s family will be held from 2 to 4 and 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a Vigil service beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Cook Funeral Home in Grandville, 4235 Prairie St. SW (West building). Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, December 17, with visitation prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 2700 Baldwin St. Father Ron Hutchinson will preside. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
