She was preceded in death by her father and mother, James and Millie Ploeg; and brother, Mike. She will be lovingly missed by her sister-in-law, Marlene Ploeg; nephew and nieces Mike (Kerri) Ploeg, Melinda (Patrick) Zondervan, Marci (Jim) Smigiel, Melanie (Dave) Richardson; 18 great-nieces and -nephews; and Debbie McMichael, her houseparent. Vicki also remained in touch with her extended family in Colorado and New Mexico, and they loved her dearly.
Vicki was a big part of our lives. Vicki was known for her quick wit, strong work ethic, and outgoing personality. Vicki knew no strangers and was a friend to all. She was the first to put out her hand and introduce herself. She enjoyed walking, reading, watching the food channel, bowling, softball, camp, and going on outings. She began working at various jobs from age 18 and retired at age 70 from Walmart, having worked there for 27 years. She continued to volunteer at Nice Twice. She was a faithful member of South Grandville Christian Reformed Church. Many thanks to Grandville Friendship Home (now David’s House) for providing her a wonderful home for 22 years. We also would like to thank the staff at Blodgett Hospital for their compassionate care.
Celebration of Vicki's Life will be held 6 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2023 with visitation beginning at 5 p.m. at Cook Memorial Chapel (East building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville. In lieu of flowers and in honor of Vicki, contributions may be made to David’s House Ministries. The family welcomes memories and
messages in their guest book online at www.cookcaresgrandville.com.
