Wanda Dale Root (Ladd)

Wanda Dale Root (Ladd), age 86, went to be with her Lord surrounded by family on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl D. Root; parents Robert and Ruth Ladd; sister Virginia Miller; brother-in-laws Melvin J. Miller, Ronald Root. She will be lovingly missed by her daughter Jackie Williams and her husband Andrew; in-laws Marilyn (Richard) Olcott, Robert Root; her nieces, nephews; beloved “grand dogs” Sparky and Sophie and friends.

Wanda was a homemaker caring for her family. She was a room mother, playground monitor, and lunchroom aid for Gladiola Elementary. Wanda was a long-time member of the former Newhall Baptist Church serving in the nursery, vacation bible school and the Ladies Missionary Circle. In her later years she attended Byron Center Bible Church. She loved basketball and always cheered for the teams from her home state of Indiana. Wanda loved camping, traveling and spending winters in Texas with her husband Carl.

In accordance with Wanda’s wishes, the family will hold a private funeral service. Interment will be at Rest Lawn Memorial Park. In honor of Wanda and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Byron Center Bible Church Building Fund.

The family would like to thank special family friends John and Shelly Stuba; and caretaker Linda Seil. There are multiple organizations that helped Wanda be able to stay at home with her family: AAAWM, Life Therapeutic Solutions (Stepping Stones Program), Meals on Wheels, Arcadia Homecare and Staffing, Visiting Nurse Association, At Home Rehab, Mercy Health (doctors and staff of the Thrive Program), Tandem 365, Mercy Health Homecare, Sunset Homecare, Porter Hill Homecare, Marywood Home Healthcare, and the loving and caring staff of Emmanuel Hospice at her journey’s end.
