William retired from S.D. Warren Paper Mill in 2000 after 40 dedicated years. He loved his family and was a true outdoorsman who loved, hunting, fishing, camping, and the beach.
William was preceded in death by his parents Steve and Pauline Portenga; two brothers Steve Jr. and Jerry; three sisters Shirley, Dorothy, Phyllis; his loving wife of 62 years, Irene (Hladki) Portenga; and son, William Portenga Jr.
William is survived by daughter, Janice (David Jr.) Kieft; grandson, Marcus (Robbin) Kieft; granddaughter, KaLeigh Stock; two great-grandsons Luke Stock and Graham Kieft; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws
