

TIMMER - William A. Timmer, age 90, of Grandville, entered his heavenly home on Saturday, February 6, 2010 after a lingering illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Marie Timmer; brother, Arthur Timmer; and grandson, Adam Timmer. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 68 years, Gladys Hoeksema Timmer; children, William Carol Timmer, Ronald Linda Timmer, Daniel Mary Anne Timmer, David Polly Timmer, and Douglas Debra Timmer; grandchildren, Matthew Lisa Timmer, Michael Nicole Timmer, Scott Jody Timmer, Jeffrey Kelly Timmer, Cortney Reed Munro, Reed Timmer, Dayna Timmer fiancé Tim Sheriff, Claire Timmer, Jack Timmer, Christopher Sarah Timmer, Erin DeWayne Reed, Abby Charlie Kleinheksel, Ashley Timmer fiancé Kyle VanderWall, Alex Timmer, and Austin Timmer; 8 great grandchildren; siblings, Martin Gerrie Timmer of FL, and Anne Richard Higgs of Kentwood; in-laws, Betty Timmer of CA, Renze Marjorie Hoeksema of Holland, and Emma Hoeksema of Jenison; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Bill was a charter member of Olivet Reformed Church, where he served in the offices of deacon and elder, and was a devoted Sunday school teacher for many years. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corp. during WWII and was employed at General Motors for 47 years. He served the City of Grandville as city councilman, mayor, and member of the planning commission.

The funeral service will be held 2 pm Tuesday at the Cook Memorial Chapel, East Building with Rev. Joshua Baron and Rev. Harvey Heneveld officiating. Interment will be at Grandville Cemetery. The family will meet with relatives and friends on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Cook Funeral Home, 4235 Prairie SW, West Building and one hour before the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Olivet Reformed Church - Mission Fund or God's Kitchen where Bill and his wife volunteered.
