
HELEN KRAMER Helen Florence (Stratton) Kramer - July 14, 1925-January 14, 2017, 91, passed away in Grants Pass, Oregon. She was born in Eugene, Oregon to Verner Vance & Louise (Johansen) Stratton, Sr. She attended schools in various cities in Oregon, and in Caldwell, Idaho, graduated from Portland Union (Adventist) Academy in 1943, attended Walla Walla College (University), graduated in 1952 with a BS degree and a five-year teaching certificate. The fall of 1952 she taught school in Bend, Oregon, where she met her future husband Lester ‘Shorty’ Kramer, who passed away Jan. 18, 1982. Helen and Shorty were married in the Bend Seventh-day Adventist church, June 27, 1953. They had three children. The family lived in Bend until 1977, when they moved to Grants Pass, Oregon. She was a life-long member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, serving in various capacities through the years, and enjoyed working with the Dorcas (Community Services) Society. She also enjoyed making quilts, crocheting, cooking, playing the piano, and the organ. She is survived by her children, Edith Kramer, David (Virginia) Kramer & Curtis (Elizabeth) Kramer, seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Gladys Doeneka; and numerous cousins, nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Agnes Brown, Evelyn Weaver, Verner Vance Stratton, Jr., Alberta Bramel, Richard Stratton, and her husband, Lester Caleb ‘Shorty’ Kramer.
