world on August 22,2020. She was born December 10, 1943 in Fort Worth, Texas to Charles
William Briley II and Helen Louise Crenshaw.
Her family moved to Dallas in 1948. Mom graduated in 1962 from Bryan Adams High School
where she also met her future husband ( and our father ) Ted Wilson. Dad lived one street over
from Mom and was the paper boy for the neighborhood . As the story goes, he would go to her
house every month to collect for the paper with the hopes she would answer the door. When
that failed to materialize , he arranged , with a mutual friend, a blind date with her. The rest, as
they say ,is history. They were married September 28, 1962 and had four children , David,
Karen Dan and Jeff. Mom and Dad worshiped the ground each other walked on until our
father’s death in 2007.
Mom worked for Oryx Energy Corporation as a secretary from 1979-1992. She volunteered for
many youth and adult organizations throughout her life. She was active in her sons’ Boy
Scout Troop 750, her daughter’s Camp Fire Leader and served on the Executive Board for
Camp Fire Girls as a School Organizer. She attended Eastfield College at night and majored in
Business. In 1992 she was a founding officer of the Bryan Adams Alumni Association and
served as President from 1995-2002. She also served as a co-chair of her own Bryan Adams
Class of 1962 and helped plan all their reunions throughout the years. She loved planning
reunions and tracking down fellow alums and was proud of her meticulous notes she kept on
their whereabouts !
Her hobbies were extensive and she was always busy doing something. She was an excellent
seamstress and over the years made and sold children’s clothing, doll clothes and porcelain
dolls. On two separate occasions she had booths at antique malls where she loved buying and
selling antiques, trinkets and her home made gifts.
But by far her greatest “job” was family. She taught us kids to be decent, respectful, honest
and polite . There was not much money growing up and we all watched her and our father
work hard to provide for us and she never complained. She believed everyone was equal and
did not judge people. She was extremely funny and she charmed everyone she met. No one
was safe from her powers including doctors and the police ( she charmed her way out of at
least two speeding tickets that we were aware of ).
She was the happiest surrounded by family , playing cards, playing the piano , listening to her favorite group, The Celtic Thunder or
watching her beloved Texas Rangers. She and our dad rescued countless animals over the
years raccoons , possums , squirrels , rabbits and her favorite………..dogs. Lucy , her precious
Basenji/ Mix was her latest rescue and her constant companion these last six years.
Having countless health problems over the years never stopped her but eventually slowed her
down. There was rarely a day when she did not have pain somewhere, but you would have
never known . When you called her, you were certain to be greeted with an enthusiastic “ Hi
Darlin’ ! “ on the other end. And when you came to see her , you were hit with her thousand
watt smile followed by a hug and kiss.
Right now as we grapple with her loss, we all take comfort in the fact that she is reunited with
our dad, our oldest brother, Dave and her parents Charles and Helen. She is right up there in
Heaven with them all, charming new people, playing cards, playing the piano and telling her
“stories”……..and drinking diet coke and enjoying a three musketeers bar.
She is survived by her daughter Karen and son in law Tom of Grapevine, son Dan and daughter
in law , Sherry of Forney and son Jeff of Arvada, CO. Granddaughters and their husbands,
Jessica and John Babcock , Maegan and Kyle Wilson-Kjellberg, Emily Wilson ( and soon )

Niece Jennifer Belniak of Plano and nephew Christopher Lilly of Santa Fe, NM. Great nephews

A memorial service will be delayed until the COVID -19 pandemic is contained and all family
and friends can be present.
In lieu of flowers, we request donations be made to the ASPSA or to the Wounded Warriors
Project, Mom’s two favorite charities .
