Born at Mercy Hospital in Hamilton, Ohio on July 12, 1955.
Son of Herbert Clark Baird (deceased), Janice (Honey) Mae Hood (deceased) and stepson of George (Cotton) Argabright (deceased)
David passed away suddenly Wednesday night 06/16/2021 at his home beside his long-time partner, best friend, and husband of 23 years, David (Aleck) Gerard Cowan.
David is survived by his brothers Charles Roger Baird and Herbert Clark Baird Jr. and two half-brothers Tom Baird and Jerry Baird.
David was a veteran and served proudly in the Navy between the years of 1973-1975.
David was known for his zest for life and was sometimes mistaken as gruff, but everyone who knew him well knew he had a heart of gold. If you were lucky enough to be brought into his circle, you were showered with generosity, compassion, knowledge and wisdom from him as well as his unique brand of humor.
Throughout his life David survived seven heart attacks, a rare form of bone marrow cancer (myelofibrosis), as well as a bone marrow transplant. He was known as the little engine that could and the energizer bunny. Nothing could stop him. He often said he wanted to stick around to irritate his loved ones a little longer especially his husband and brothers.
He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He did it his way. When asked why he still partook in habits that weren't good for him he would answer, ”I didn't survive all of these illnesses to stop living. Life is meant to be lived and deprivation is not living!”
David was very generous. He sponsored a child in South America through Catholic charities when he and his husband were unemployed during the recession 2007/2008. They needed the money, but the child needed it more.
He sponsored numerous trips for the good people of Habitat for Humanity to help support the wonderful work they are doing for mankind.
He was an animal lover and always sponsored the SPCA. His husband always said he was a sucker for Sarah McLaughlin and the sappy commercials, but he would have done it even without Sarah’s help.
David always tried to help friends and family who were in need. He never made the offer to help without following through. If he couldn't help, he simply didn't offer.
He was so much more than his career and he held employment in many companies, the last of which was Bank of America. While at Bank of America, he worked in Information Security, and, prior to that, in Global Technology and Operations. He was very proud to have had these opportunities.
Prior to the bank he held positions at Dyncorp international (where he became a world traveler) and Carter and Burgess.
David was a great mentor, both in life matters to his husband and business matters with his work associates.
His husband (The old sock) will deeply miss him (The old shoe) as well as family and many other people worldwide.
Memorial services will be held at J.E. Foust and Son Funeral Home on Saturday 7-10-2021 at 2:00pm
