With true grace, our strong matriarch, Dolores Grace Graf Higdon found eternal peace on June 19, 2015. “Always be positive” was wisdom she imparted in the last days of earthly life. She lived by those words and found good in everything. Born in 1927 in her beloved Chicago, she graduated from secretarial school and worked in The Loop. She married Paul Higdon and had two children, Paul B. and Nancy, who were raised in Barrington, IL. In 1995, she moved to Libertyville, IL where she became active in the community. She was inducted into the Libertyville Senior Hall of Fame in 2002, and in 2008 she was honored by Peace X Peace, an international women’s organization, as an Extraordinary Ordinary Woman. She possessed a charitable heart and gave back to many causes. She was the founder of “The Kitchen Klangers”, a band for senior citizens. In her later years, she lived at The Village at Victory Lakes in Lindenhurst, IL and Watermere in Southlake, TX. Her family praises God for putting this spirit in our lives and the gift of shepherding her to her rest. Her legacy lives in her son, Paul B. (Linda) Higdon of Elkhorn, WI, daughter, Nancy Higdon (Paul) Musgrave of Southlake, TX. Most precious to her were “the Loves of her life,” her four grandsons: Lars and Nils Higdon and Paul (Layking) and David Musgrave. The family will hold a celebration of Dolores’ life on Saturday, July 11 from 2:00-4:00 pm at Libertyville Senior Center, 135 Church Street, Libertyville, Il in Room E. The family requests donations made to this special place that gave Dolores wings: The Libertyville Civic Center- Senior Council. We love you, Nana. You are our sunshine.
