While we mourn his absence, we rejoice in knowing that he has finally reunited with his best friend and the love of his life, Fran. After 48 years together, the last four years must have felt like an eternity to be apart. True love lasts a lifetime and beyond.
Ed was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts to Joseph and Sheila (McKoan) Callaghan, the second of nine children. He spent over 30 years living in the New Bedford and Boston area.
Ed was an accomplished speaker and trainer in sales and management. Many Fortune 500 companies have benefited from his training programs. Additionally, Ed was a successful author with several books that detailed his sales tactics. However, his proudest achievement was his family. He relished the controlled chaos that came with a household of four kids and the revolving door of friends. He was a loving, supportive, and strong, yet gentle father. His knowledge and guidance was the foundation of our family. He not only saw the good, but brought out the best in us.
Among his many talents, Ed was a skillful magician. His love of card tricks was a special gift passed on and carried out by his grandsons. He made our lives magic.
We will miss the twinkle in his eye, the sweet smell of his favorite cigars, and his steadfast grace.
Ed leaves behind a loving family in his daughter, Kaycee and her husband, Chris, with their three boys, Austen, Cooper, and Jamie; his son Ted; his son Kip, and his three children, Kenzie, Chase, and Macy; and his daughter Courtney. He is also survived by siblings, Joseph T. Callaghan Jr, Sheila Couto, Angela Kruger, Betsy Barclay, Peter Callaghan, and Cathy King, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Ed, better known as “Opi” was an absolute treasure to his grandchildren.
After a long and full life, Ed finished well.
A visitation is scheduled for Sunday, December 19, 2021, 2pm-4pm at JE Foust and Son Funeral Home.
