

Elizabeth Wilson Scott, 89, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016, in Grapevine. Born in Beith, Scotland to John and Agnes Walters, Elizabeth traveled the world at the side of her beloved husband, Prof. A. Ian Scott, to whom she was married from March 4, 1950 until his death in 2007.
Professor Scott, a leading authority on the biosynthesis of vitamin B12, held positions in Glasgow and Edinburgh, Scotland, Vancouver, B.C., Sussex, England, New Haven, Ct., and College Station, Tx., where he held the Robert A. Welch and D.H.R. Barton chairs in Chemistry.
Elizabeth loved to play tennis, read The New York Times, and was a warm and gracious hostess to all of her husband's colleagues and students. At a later age she studied painting and was an accomplished artist, specializing in still-life water colors.
She is survived by her daughter, Ann Ryder (David) of Southlake, son, William Scott (Cabrina) of College Station, grandchildren Emily Ryder Perlmeter (Cody), Andrew Ryder, Trevor Scott (Jessie), Lauren Contreras (Freddie), Erin Scott and Alyssa Scott, and by three great-grandchildren, Carly Scott, Hanly Contreras, and Charlotte Scott.
A memorial service honoring Elizabeth's life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 11:00 am at the Founders' Chapel, Whiteschapel United Method Church, Southlake. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Elizabeth's name to the Alzheimer's Association.
