mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this
world on December 22, 2021 at the age 77 after a
long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
She was born in Hong Kong on February 1, 1944 to
Joseph Wing Leung (of Haiphong, Vietnam) and
Theresa Wan Leung (née Au of Sun Wue, China).
Frances was studying in college and working as a
tour guide in Hong Kong, when she met would meet
her husband, Christopher Clark Longmore Clark (of
Brooklyn NY), then a young officer in the U.S. Navy
on a tour during the Vietnam War. Chris’ ship took its
first leave from the war in Hong Kong, and Chris
happened to take the tour bus on which Frances
was the guide. Finding Frances truly irresistible,
Chris asked Frances to take some pictures with him
(pictures which the family cherishes to this day)
which he later sent to Frances from his ship
following keen detective work to locate her. A
romance of several years was then sparked,
although Chris and Frances were able to see each
other in person only infrequently. Frances chased
her dreams and moved to Canada to start a new life
with more opportunities and await Chris’ return from
war. Frances and Chris married in Canada and then
moved to San Diego, California, where Chris was
first stationed after the war. It was in San Diego
where they had their 2 sons: Christopher Inslee and
Jonathan Russell.
Frances had a long and very successful career in
real estate sales and brokerage that spanned over
40 years in California, Connecticut, and finally,
Texas. She was known professionally for her
friendliness and her dedication to detail and service
to her customers. An absolutely tireless worker, she
was efficient, effective, relentless, and loving.
Frances could obtain a listing from people who
never thought of selling, and she could get parties to
agree to a sales transaction when terms were so far
apart a closing seemed impossible. She would make
great friendships with so many of her customers,
even caring enough to counsel some young couples
on how to forge a strong and healthy relationship.
Most of all, Frances was fiercely devoted to her
family and to her friends. She was very proud of her
sons and their successful educations and careers.
In her free time, she loved creating delicious
Chinese dishes in the kitchen, planting/gardening,
sewing, going out to eat, going on cruises and
Caribbean vacations with Chris, seeing movies in
the theater, and visiting with her sons, daughter-inlaw,
and her beloved grandson.
Frances’ proudest moments were: the day she
became a wife, the days on which her sons were
born, and the day she became a grandmother
(affectionately referred to as “gramama” by her
grandson). Frances is survived by her husband of 53
years, Chris, her son Christopher, her son Jonathan
and his wife Amanda, and their son Nicolas. She is
also survived by her sisters Judy, Daphne, Tammy
and her brother Henry. She was preceded in death
by her parents as well as her sister Thelma and her
brother William.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please
