

He is preceded in death by his wife Eileen Jemke whom he married June 10, 1950.
He is survived by his three children; Cheryl Routson (Don), Steve Hurley (Jan), and Patricia J. Allen (Mark); as well as his grandkids Anne Routson, Sarah Webster, Matt Allen, Thomas Rouston, Patrick Hurley, Darren Hurley, Quinn Hurley, Maureen Hurley, Michael Allen, and Max Allen; along with great grandchildren Alexis Draven, and Madison Routson, Gabriel Hurley, and Chloe Hurley; nieces Pam Reinke (Butch), Deena Krawcryk, Denise Hurley; and nephews Bill Hurley and Michael Hurley.
George attended Tilden Tech High School and went on to attend Valparaiso University in Indiana. He was also a part of the Chicago Boy Scouts and the Blackhorse Brigade.
In his life he was a proud Eagle Scout and he went on to work as an iron worker in the Chicago railyards. He was also a structural steel estimator. One of his greatest accomplishments was entering the Army Air Corps. He served on Leyte Island in the Philippines in the Pacific Campaign in World War II.
In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, reading, and doing whatever his wife wanted done. He had a gentle soul and a great sense of humor. He was a great friend to many.
