Born and raised in Oak Cliff (Dallas), TX to parents Yancy and Rita Robertson. LeRae attended St. Cecilia Catholic school and graduated from Sunset High School in 1958. It was there that she met the love of her life, Nathan B. Hight.
LeRae lived a full and purposeful life. Dedicated to her family and keeping Nate in line. Falling in love at a young age was nothing special but falling in love and choosing to love for 68 years is quite a feat. Their story was one for the books as she was a Big city girl who fell for the country boy. They were perfect together, soulmates; as he charged forward with their next move, she was the keeper that kept it all together and the brains to ensure it would work.
She loved her family unconditionally and provided the stability and security of "Home", no matter where that might be. There was always something cooking and all who walked in were always invited to a home-cooked meal.
Her mission was simple, to feed you, to listen, and then very directly tell you to keep going as "this too shall pass". She didn't allow us to give up and somehow always made our bad days better.
She didn't need nor want material things to be happy. She took pleasure in reading, cooking, playing music, dancing in the kitchen, and being with her family. She loved all sports and truly treasured watching her kids, grandkids, and eventually, her great-grandkids play. You could look up and find her cheering you on wearing her sun-visor, and team shirt, with popcorn in hand as she coached from the stands. She was always your biggest supporter, even if you felt down on your luck.
She was the heart of the family, the pillar that everyone leaned on and could always bet on. She wasn't one for elaborate conversations, but when she did speak, it was direct and to the point and you knew she meant business. If you challenged her, you knew to be prepared for what we called a "LeRae Hight Special."
She was always a phone call away for recipes and "what should I do" moments. To know her was to love her and to love her was OUR greatest joy.
Her time here on Earth has come to an end but the lessons, love, and admiration she had for her family will live on through her family.
She may not physically be just a phone call away or sitting in the stands .... but we can all rest assured she will be sitting in Heaven cheering us on and watching us live by the lessons of life that she embedded within us.
So, in the wisdom of the strongest person we know, "This too shall pass" and we will all reunite together in the kingdom of our Lord where we are whole and healthy and know no pain.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Yancy and Rita Robertson. Survived by her husband Nathan B. Hight. Sister Kim Robertson (J.R.). Daughters Sheri Brunson (David), and Kari Howard (Mike Furno). Son Lance "Booger” Hight (Rhonda). Grandchildren Kelsi Bannahan (Chance), Christopher Duncan, Caleb Howard (Amanda), Madison Firman (Kimber), Sydney Hight, Baylee Brunson, and Avery Hight.
