Richard Clinton Eakins, Jr., 74, of Grapevine passed away Thursday, January 2, 2025 in Grapevine, Texas after a hard fought battle with cancer. Rick was born on September 24, 1950 to Richard and Billie Eakins in Los Angeles, California. After spending his early childhood years in Oklahoma City, Rick and his family moved to Grapevine, Texas in 1958 where he continued to live until his death.
Rick was a 1968 graduate of Grapevine High School, and a 1973 graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Fine Art. Rick pursued a career in commercial art, and worked as a Directory Artist, retiring from AT&T in 2004 after 30 years of service.
Rick was preceded in death by his father, Richard and his brother, Randy. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Barbara Hodges Eakins; his son Adam Eakins and wife Bridget; daughter Amber Rader and husband Aaron; grandchildren Katie and Randal Eakins, Bethany, Zachary and Alyssa Rader; his mother, Billie Eakins, and brother, Ron Eakins.
