Alberta (Bert) Johnson was born October 21, 1933 in Ong, Nebraska to Claude and Mildred Standerford. The family moved to Humboldt, Nebraska where Bert attended school, graduating from high school in 1951.
At a young age, during a Summer Vacation Bible School, she learned that God loved her and sent his son Jesus to die on a Roman cross and shed his blood to atone for her sins. Bert accepted God’s promise that if you confess Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
On November 23, 1961 Bert was united in marriage to Eldon Johnson at Hastings, Nebraska. They made their home at Wood River, Nebraska until 1963 when they moved to Greeley, Colorado.
Bert was a homemaker who found time to work for J.C. Penney, I-Tel, as well as selling Tupperware and Avon. She worked 16 years in electronics for Hewlett-Packard before retiring in 1995. She and Eldon enjoyed traveling and visiting friends and family.
Bert and Eldon have been members of West Greeley Baptist Church since 1969, while on occasion taking a leave of absence to work with area churches as God led them.
Bert loved people and people loved her, and her last wish is that if you are not saved, that you put your trust in Jesus and let Him direct your life. In that way, Bert can look forward to seeing you again in the presence of Jesus. Bert did not fear death, and on October 7, 2017, she went to be with her Savior where she waits to be reunited with Eldon, her husband of 55 plus years.
Bert was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Claudene. She is survived by her husband Eldon, an Uncle Robert Lee Kinnison, and nephew Dallas Kinnison.
