

Alison was raised in Denver attending Green Mountain High School. After her education, she moved to Steamboat Springs in 1991 where she worked at the hospital in the Emergency Room and was a volunteer EMT in Yampa and Oak Creek, Colorado. She was also an active volunteer for the American Red Cross.
Alison married William “Butch” Shaffer on June 15, 2002 in Yampa. They moved to Eaton in 2004. She worked in the North Colorado Medical Center Emergency Room, the Northern Colorado Rehabilitation Hospital in Johnstown and at the Greeley Urgent Care West. People called her “Emergency Ali” because of her commitment to ER services.
Alison loved all crafts, including; crocheting and knitting, being outdoors, fishing, her dogs and especially her grandchildren, who called her “Bunny”.
Alison is survived by her husband, William “Butch” Shaffer of Eaton; three daughters, Christine Wagers (Jonathan) of Woodrow, Colorado, Chelsey DeNeice and Amanda DeNeice both of Steamboat Springs; two step-daughters, Ashleigh Tibbetts (Ryan) of Stagecoach, Colorado and Brittany Shaffer of Grand Junction; two step-sons, Jason Donnelly (Cathy) and Joseph Wood both of Casa Grande, Arizona; mother, Marguerite DiCola of Aurora; sister, Heather Geeslin of Ft. Collins; brother, Todd Hughes (Korie) of Windsor and six grandchildren, Orian, Landon, Layla, Makyla, Lillian and James.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Joseph and Estella Balderrama.
A Celebration of Life will be at 12:00 noon Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the Eaton Community Center and from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the Steamboat Community Center.
