

Antonia V. Carrasco, age 95, passed away peacefully in her home in Milliken, CO on May 4, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 18, 1928 in Meoqui, Mexico to Martin Valdez and Concepcion Rios Valdez.
Antonia was a diligent migrant worker, and her most well-known jobs included thinning sugar beets (which was one of her favorites) and assisting in a factory to produce brooms.
In 1953, Antonia married Ramon Carrasco in Ojinaga, Mexico, after which they had four children together. They made their home in Pecos, Texas before moving to Southern Colorado (Walsh) in 1964. In 1972 they moved to the Milliken/Johnstown area. They maintained a loving marriage for 50 years until Ramon’s passing in 2003.
Antonia was a longstanding and devoted member of St. John the Baptist Church located in Johnstown, Colorado. Some of her favorite activities and hobbies included dancing and listening to music (especially at live performances), crocheting, venturing out to casinos, and gardening. However, it was her time spent with her enormous family that stood out as her absolute favorite.
Antonia is survived by her children, Alfredo Carrasco, Cruz Ana Calvillo (Julio Calvillo), Alma Lorena Tovar (Arnulfo Tovar), and Gloria Mendoza (who was considered as a daughter) and family; her grandchildren, Adriana Carrasco, Napoleon Carrasco, Viviana Carrasco, Alfredo Carrasco, Dawnyana Carrasco, Jesus Carrasco, Cruz Ana Carrasco, Julio Alberto Calvillo, Joel A. Calvillo, Hugo O. Calvillo, Roel M. Calvillo, Mark Tovar, Andrew Tovar, Gabriella Tovar, Jessica Carrasco, and Jesse Vallejo; 35 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her son, Jesus Ramon Carrasco; her husband, Ramon G. Carrasco; her parents; her granddaughter, Ruby Ramirez; and her grandson, Ramiro Carrasco.
A visitation for Antonia will be held on May 15, 2023 at Stoddard Funeral Home at 4:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 6:00 p.m. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m. on May 16, 2023, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. and Committal. Following the burial, there will be a reception at the Johnstown Community Center; 101 E Charlotte Street, Johnstown, CO.
