Augustine Lucas Carranza of Evans died Monday, February 7, 2011 at Windsor Health Care Center. He was born August 28, 1928 in Galeton, Colorado to Alberto and Catalina (Rodriguez) Carranza. He attended Greeley Central High School.
Augustine served in the U.S. Army and played the French horn in the 264 Army Band. He also served in the Navy with the Seabees in the Korean War. He received the Veteran’s of Korean War Medal for “Forgotten Heros of the Korean War” 1950-1953.
Augustine was a barber for 50 years and owned Augie’s Barbershop. On September 27, 1962, he married Stephanie Ruiz in Denver, Colorado.
He was a member of Knights of Columbus where he served as Grand Knight 3rd Degree and St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife Stephanie Carranza; daughter Augusta Carranza; son Simon Carranza; sister Lupe Mendoza; brothers Marion Carranza and John Carranza; grandson, Jamal Carranza-Jacquett. Preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation 4-6 p.m. Friday at Stoddard Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary 6 p.m. Friday at Stoddard Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
