FREE! I, Bonnie Louise Workman Simon Dietz, am Free! Free of the body that got old before my mind did, Free of earth, Free to be in the presence of my Lord Jesus Christ! I passed away peacefully from this life on June 21, 2025, in Greeley.
I was born on December 26, 1932, in Beverly, Kansas, to Thomas and Gladys (Cassell) Workman and was brought up in Northern Colorado in and around Fort Collins and Timnath. I graduated from Timnath High School a year early and still was second in my class! In November 1951, I married Helmut Simon of Windsor; we farmed near Severance. We had three children. He passed away in January 1985. In 1986, I married Eugene Dietz of Russell, Kansas, but later returned to Northern Colorado after we divorced.
During my adult life, I worked in the scale house at the sugar beet dump in Severance (where I met Helmut), as a clerk in a small grocery store in Windsor, as a secretary at Faith United Church in Windsor, and as a cook at senior care facilities in Russell, Kansas, and Greeley and Berthoud, Colorado. After retirement, I eventually moved to Greeley. According to my daughter, I was a great cook, did beautiful crocheting, and created many quilts and other sewing and hand-work items that went to many people.
Those I leave behind are two sons, Mark (Cheri) Simon of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Paul Simon of Greeley and daughter, Sylvia (Barlow) Bradbury of Greeley, three grandchildren, several great- and great-great grandchildren, and a sister, LaVona Wentz of Casper, Wyoming.
Those who went before me were my first husband, my parents, and my siblings Eldon, Robert, Loene, Jack, and Ruth.
Thank you for caring about me--and my family. I was blessed!
Family and friends may gather at the graveside to say good-bye on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 11:00 at Lakeview Cemetery in Windsor.
Memorial contributions may be made to Banner Hospice of Greeley.
