Carmen moved to Greeley at a young age. She worked in manufacturing at Hewlett-Packard for 15 years, and then she retired. She also worked at Martin Produce for many years, worked on various farms and was a part-time housekeeper.
Carmen met her soul mate, Albert Muñoz, in Greeley and on April 26, 1943, the two eloped and married in Kimball, Nebraska. The two were inseparable even in death, Carmen did not want to be without her love.
Carmen was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church and St. Peter’s Catholic Church. She was a dedicated lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary at V.F.W. Post 2121.
Just as her husband, Carmen lived for her family. She followed her husband to all of his baseball games. Even though she was a “grandmother”, she was really a mom to all. Carmen enjoyed bowling and doing needlepoint. She was a fan of sports, especially the Broncos and Rockies, but her favorite baseball team was the Chicago Cubs. She loved all types of dancing, traveling and having fun.
Carmen is survived by two daughters, Mary Helen Perez (Calistro “Kelly”) of Union City, California and Patricia Dyer (Stan) of Valley Center, California; two sons, Albert R. Muñoz Jr. (Evelyn) and Domingo C. Muñoz (Susie) all of Greeley; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, parents, her five siblings and one granddaughter, Jamie Lujan.
Friends may visit from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 4 followed by the Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. both at Stoddard Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment to immediately follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
