Carol Elizabeth Farrell died suddenly of a stroke in Greeley, Colorado on September 16, 2021. Carol spent her last evening watching the Rockies on TV win their road game in extra innings over the Atlanta Braves.
Carol Rylander was born and grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota. She went through schools on St. Paul’s East Side, and attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota for two years. Carol still communicated regularly with her old school chums. She married James (Jim) Farrell and they moved west, settling in Greeley to raise their four children: David Farrell, Kevin Farrell, Michael Farrell, and Catherine Clark.When Carol and Jim became empty nesters, they moved to a co-housing community in Littleton where they lived for 18 years. Then Jim retired and they moved back to Greeley in 2013.
Carol was a talented watercolor artist and her beautiful paintings sold in galleries and hung in art shows in Northern Colorado. She was a member of the Greeley Art Association and a Signature Member of the Colorado Watercolor Society.
She was a loving and beloved spouse, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and will be greatly missed. Carol is survived and mourned by her husband, four children, eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, her sister Dorothy Johnson and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Hanna Rylander, brother William Rylander, and sister, Anita Rylander.
An open-house gathering for friends and family will be held at Biaggi's Ristorante 5929 Sky Pond Drive, Loveland, Colorado (Centerra) Saturday, Oct 2 from 2 to 5 PM.
