

Chester “Jack” Ellis, 87, of Evans, passed away February 13, 2018 at TRU Hospice of Northern Colorado. Jack was born March 14, 1930 near St. Francis, Kansas to Asa and Georgia Ellis. The family came to Colorado when Jack was an infant, farming throughout Weld County. After Jack’s schooling, he worked for his older brother at Don Ellis Construction Company as a heavy equipment operator.
Jack married Della Frances Dunlap on July 2, 1949 in Greeley. Jack served in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Electrician from 1951 – 1953. After marriage, they lived in California and in Colorado. After his discharge, they remained in Colorado. Jack worked as a plant foreman for 25 years at Broderick and Gibbons until retiring in 1990. Jack and Della then moved to a 20-acre farm in Peckham and in 1993 moved to Evans.
Jack enjoyed restoring classic cars, fishing, camping and family outings. He loved to play cards. Family time was paramount to him.
Jack is survived by his wife Della; two daughters Roxanna Michalski of Spirit Lake, Idaho and Ila Jo Ayers of Colorado Springs; one son Edward (Manon) Dunlap of Huntsville, Alabama; four sisters Edna Peterson of Grapevine, Texas, Bonnie (Don) Mitchell of Greeley, Shirley (Harold) Stiley of Loveland and Gladys (Paul) Otten of Peckham; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.
Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Stoddard Funeral Home.
