Clarence Dennis “Chief” Syslo, 94, of Greeley, passed away at his home on May 27, 2014. He was born December 11, 1919 in Columbus, NE to John and Gertrude (Matera) Syslo.
Clarence came to Colorado in 1944 and married Vivian Winter. They had a son, Jerry Syslo. He later married Avis Moser and they had a daughter, Susan Syslo. He then married Juanita Chaffin and they had a son, Dennis Syslo. Vivian, Avis and Juanita all preceded Clarence in death.
Clarence started driving a truck in Omaha when he was 13 years old. He drove for 70 years. He hauled anything that could be put on a truck, including Indians, which is how he got the nickname “Chief”.
He is survived by his children; numerous stepchildren; 11 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and by his sister, Evelyn Tille.
A visitation will be held from 5-7:00 P.M., Thursday, June 5, 2014 at the Allnutt Macy Chapel. Cremation to be completed.
