

Sedan, Kansas, on May 1, 1915 fourth of the seven sons of Hugh Allen Stephenson and Mertie Mae (Howell) Stephenson. He graduated from
Sedan High School before going on to Kansas State University earning a degree in Agricultural Economics in 1937. Laverne Inman became his wife in 1939 and the couple settled in Laharpe, Kansas, where Steve taught Vocational Agriculture at Laharpe High School until 1941 when
he was called into the Army. During the war he served in the China Burma India campaign. After the war he remained in the Army serving
in Korea, Japan, Chicago, Omaha, and Colorado Springs where he retired in 1962. After retirement he was employed at Out West Printing and Stationery. He is survived by his daughter, Ann Liggett (Michael) of Fort Collins, Colorado, son, John Stephenson (Randy) of McKinney, Texas, and grandaughters, Ruth Stephenson and Sarah Liggett, and grandson, Morgan Liggett. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his brothers: Harold, Kenneth, Byron, Gale, Eugene, and Loy. A memorial service will be held in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at the First United Methodist Church Lehmberg Chapel on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. Donations may be made to Hospice organizations in his memory.
