March 25, 1947-September 28, 2014
67, of Greeley
A brilliant, creative spirit, Dianne Lynelle Schiltz, died at Hospice of Northern Colorado, on Sunday, September 28, 2014. She was born in Plainview, NE, to Elvin and Norma Strope on March 25, 1947. The family moved to Iowa when she was four, where she grew up on a farm near Spirit Lake, IA.
In 1964 she graduated from high school. She continued her education earning a B.S. in Home Economics from Iowa State University, a Masters in Education from Colorado State University, and an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science in Electronics at Aims Community College in Greeley, CO.
On May 31, 1969, she was united in marriage to Jon Parke Schiltz. As a couple and great friends they settled in Fort Collins and later to Greeley. They were blessed with two children – a son Jared (Allison) Schiltz of Denver; and Emily (Tim) Smith of Sacramento, CA.
Throughout her adult life, Dianne was able to explore a variety of careers. She taught high school Home Economics, worked in electronics and member benefits, she was a stay at home mom, and finally the job she loved most – teaching college prep math at Aims Community College in Greeley.
She was a member of First Congregational Church United Church of Christ where she sang in the choir faithfully.
She leaves behind to grieve her, her husband Jon Schiltz, Greeley; mother, Norma Strope, Greeley; and one sibling, sister Dawn (Larry) Van Ess, Wisconsin. She has sisters and brothers-in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and students galore who also feel her loss.
Dianne fought a gallant battle against Mantel Cell Lymphoma and the effects of its cure for many years. She lives on for all of us in the beauty of the quilts and crafts she created. She was a teacher to the end and taught us all how to live with courage and with grace.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 2, 2014 at the First Congregational Church.
