

Don Hutchins, long-time resident of Fort Collins was born May 14, 1925, in North Loup Nebraska, to parents Floyd and Florence (Anderson) Hutchins. Don passed away Monday, July 24th, at his home. Don and his brother, LaVern, grew up on a farm and actively participated in farming. Don graduated from North Loup High School in 1942. When playing with a summer band in a nearby town, he met his wife-to-be, Betty Burton. Music was thoroughly enjoyed by both. They were married on August 11, 1946. Don and Betty, with their daughters Deborah and Susan, moved to Fort Collins in 1955 where Don began his career with the Ghent Motor Company and retired after 33 years. He took great pride in his work, his home and yard, and his hobbies. Don loved square dancing, skiing, ice skating and building and flying model airplanes. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends and family playing all types of games. Don is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter Deborah and husband Buz Dabkowski of Erie Colorado and Susan and husband Marc Bock of Huntington Beach California. Don has three grandchildren, Chris, Nate and Stephanie; and seven great-grandchildren. Don will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Funeral services are Monday, July 31st at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church, Fort Collins. The family is grateful for the excellent care provided in his final days by Pathways Hospice and Seniors Helping Seniors. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Pathways Hospice, Food Bank for Larimer County, or the First United Methodist Church.
