Donnie Robert Gibson, 67, of Greeley, passed away Friday, July 18, 2014 at Hospice of Northern Colorado in Greeley. Donnie was born on August 18, 1946 in Kokomo, Indiana to Rev. Hascue William and Betty Palmer (Short) Gibson.
Donnie was raised in Kokomo and left at 18 to join the United States Army. He retired from the Army as a Chief Warrant Officer.
On December 16, 1967, he married Kook Mok in Koblenz, Germany.
Donnie was a big sports fan; his favorite teams were the Colts, Pacers and Indiana University. He loved watching western movies and traveling the world.
Donnie is survived by his wife, Kook Gibson; son, Robert P. (Dawna) Gibson; granddaughter, Jaida Gibson; grandson, Jacob Gibson; five brothers, Mitch (Sue) Gibson, Ellis (Genieva) Gibson, Homer (Susie) Gibson, Larry Gibson and Garry (Becky) Gibson; three sisters, Vickie Lawson, Pam (Chris) Holland and Teresa (Steve) Roesler and several nieces and nephews.
Donnie is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Imo Jean Reich, brother, Rev. Buddy Gibson, Sr., sister-in-law, Beverly Jo Gibson and two brothers-in-law, Ray Reich and Grady Lawson.
Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area A.
