Earl Louis Reiter, 91 of Platteville, passed away February 22, 2017 at his home. Earl was born March 4, 1925 in Madison, Nebraska to Louis and Elsie (Buettner) Reiter. He served in the U.S. Navy for 3 years.
Earl held many jobs including a butcher, dairy farmer, carpenter, truck driver and lastly as the equipment supervisor for Exeter Drilling for 18 years until his retirement. He was an active member of the Lion’s Club and VFW Club, helping with the Glasses for Children and VFW projects. He played Santa Claus for the children in Platteville, and enjoyed working the football games in Gilcrest. He also served as Mayor of Platteville.
Earl enjoyed helping everyone and was loved and respected by all who knew him.
Earl is survived by his sister Joann Norton; children James (Pat) Reiter; Daniel (Janet) Reiter; Sally (Scott) McWilliams; Robert Reiter; Barbara (Andy) Brashear; grandchildren Aaron, Daniel, Chris, Zeb, Stormy, Jesse, Joshua and Tiffany; and 15 great grandchildren.
Visitation is Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. followed by funeral service at 1:00 p.m., at First United Methodist Church, Platteville. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
