He was born November 3, 1927 in Englewood, Colorado to Gust and Iva (Ice) Wullschleger. His younger brother, Johnny, preceded Earl in death by a few hours on April 2nd. Earl is survived by his sister, Jeanette (Graney), his wife Eileen (McCarty), his two children Donald (Melanie) and Cheryl, and his grandson Mitchell.
Earl graduated from East High School in Denver. Earl had a heart murmur that kept him out of PE in High School because the doctors feared he would die. Little did they know that he would have a wonderful, full, and active life! He graduated from Dallas Bible College, and the University of Northern Colorado with a Bachelors and Masters Degree. Earl married Eileen in 1959. They moved to Oak Creek upon graduation where he taught for 1 year, then moved to Gilcrest where he taught mathematics at Valley High School from 1960 to 1985.
Earl was a member of the Gilcrest Volunteer Fire Department and Gilcrest Baptist Church. Earl loved studying God’s word and taught the Adult Sunday School class. He especially loved to teach about Christ’s coming again. Throughout his life, he greatly enjoyed the time he spent with friends and family exploring the world. It began with Earl and his brother exploring the dump across from his house as kids, it extended to the mountains and skiing while in his twenties, and from there he was able to see all 50 states, significant parts of Canada and a few Caribbean islands. He also loved building things. With the help of his friends, he built his home in Gilcrest, a cabin in Red Feather, a playhouse for his daughter, a fort for his son and many woodworking projects in between. Earl loved being outdoors where he was able to explore the world God made and when sitting around the campfire solving all the world’s problems with his friends.
