

Elisabeth P. Wirick, 89, of Greeley, passed away at Medical Center of the Rockies, Loveland, CO, on March 14, 2017. Elisabeth was born July 11, 1927 in Rotterdam, Netherland to Peiter and Marie de Waal . She married Edward Wirick on September 1, 1955 in the LDS Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Elisabeth grew up in Rotterdam, graduating from high school there, going on to obtain some of her college education in Delft, Netherland. While there she worked at a rest home, “Huis Der” which means House In the Forrest. After coming to the United States she earned her Master’s Degree at BYU while working as an assistant manager in the school cafeteria there. She also taught dietetics n in hospitals.
Elisabeth was a member of the American Dietetic Association for 53 years, chairman of the Home Economics department at UNC, and an Alumnus at UNC. She was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Elisabeth was a world traveler and a gourmet cook.
She is survived by her husband Edward; nieces, Winafred and Thelma; and nephew Peter; as well as several great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Adrian de Waal.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Ashcroft Ward, 2116 23rd Avenue, Greeley, CO. Private interment at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
