Elsie R. Leiter

Ruth Leiter, 88, of Greeley, passed away on April 28, 2012 at Fairacres Manor in Greeley. She was born November 25, 1923 in Bowling Green, Missouri to Leslie Clarence and Gertie Mae (Embree) Miller. Her grandparents Walter and Carrie Embree were very important in her life and lived close by. She grew up and lived in Beamon, Missouri and attended schools in Smithton, Missouri. After graduating from high school she studied and became a nursing assistant.

She married Harry Edward Schick in Sedalia, Missouri in 1942 and they have one son. On August 7, 1949 she married Wayne Read Leiter in Saint Joseph, Missouri and they had one son. Mr. Leiter worked for AT&T and the family lived in Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas before moving to Greeley in 1956 from Lamesa, Texas. She loved the state and worked in private duty nursing and some of the Greeley nursing homes during her career.

Survivors are her son, Gary Edward Schick, her son, Terry Wayne Leiter and daughter-in-law, Laura Leiter and a grandson, Terry Wayne Leither II, all of Greeley. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wayne Read Leiter and three sisters, Ernestine Hughes, Lillian Finch and Loraine Hall all residents of Sedalia, Missouri.

Services will be conducted at a later date. Stoddard Funeral Home in Greeley is in charge of arrangements.
