Esther Peters of Kersey died Sunday, December 5, 2010 at 5 p.m. at Life Care Center in Greeley. She was born June 25, 1920 in Loveland, to Gottfried and Molly Harding. As a young girl, her family moved to the Kuner area where they farmed. Esther attended grade school in Kuner and high school in Kersey.
In 1938, she married Alfred Peters. They farmed for one year in Peckham, before moving to the family farm in Hardin, later buying their farm. In 1967, they moved to their farm near Kuner living there until 1977. They sold the Kuner farm and moved to Kersey. Esther lived there until 2009.
Esther had been a member of the Kersey Grange since 1940. She was also a member of the MMC Club (Mary Matrons Club) and Kuner Circle Club. She was a member of the Kersey Senior Center since 1979 where she served as secretary and treasurer on many occasions.
Esther loved her children and grandson. She was always a friend to everyone she met, and everyone who met her, loved her.
She enjoyed fishing at their place in Gould, raising flowers and shopping at the now closed Joslins Store, Greeley.
Esther is survived by her daughter Melanie Trautman of Evans; son Allen and his wife Juanita of Kersey; grandson Ron Peters and fiancée Rose Woodard of Ft. Collins, and a sister Ruth Rothe of Greeley. She is preceded in death by her husband Alfred, four sisters and two brothers.
Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m., Thursday, at Stoddard Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, at Stoddard Funeral Home. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens
