Evelyn Garvey, 92, of Greeley died February 11, 2011 at Fairacres Manor. She was born September 12, 1918 into a large family on a small farm near Warrensburg, Missouri.
Evelyn loved living on the farm and helping out with chores such as feeding the animals, cooking and canning. She later attended college, where she met her husband John W. Garvey. She taught grade school for a short time before moving to Colorado for health reasons. She and John had two children, Johnny and Patricia. The family lived in Fort Collins before settling permanently in Greeley where Evelyn lived for sixty years.
The Garvey’s were active in their church, and Evelyn later became a founding member of Grace Baptist Church in Greeley. Evelyn worked for Graybeal Jewelry in downtown Greeley for many years before retiring. Evelyn love the Lord, her church family, and her many friends within the community.
She is preceded in death by her husband and children, and is survived by three granddaughters and three great-grandsons.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Stoddard Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Grandview Cemetery, Fort Collins.
